Heinz at 950 North Shore Nears Completion of Historic Renovation of 151-Unit Loft Apartment Building

Heinz’s original headquarters, stunning architectural elements, green building practices, and a convenient, walkable, urban location. Heinz at 950 North Shore is a value-added luxury property that includes a desirable amenities package with a climate-controlled parking garage. Slated to open in January 2017, the lofts are ideal for residents who are attracted by Pittsburgh’s numerous entertainment, dining, shopping, and social options. The one-bedroom units range between $1,180-$1,905 per month (592-869 sq. ft.), and the two-bedroom units range from $1,755-$2,495 per month (864-1,443 sq. ft.). The building, constructed in Romanesque Revival Style in 1930, originally served as the Heinz Service Building on Pittsburgh’s North Shore and was designed for the enjoyment of Heinz employees. It contained a 3,000 seat auditorium where employees enjoyed plays and performances, as well as dining and recreational areas. The two-story lobby was finished with marble and bronze, and murals decorated the walls. Now, the design of the building’s interior at Heinz at 950 North Shore incorporates many existing architectural features and materials to ensure the historic character of the building remains intact. “The renovation of Heinz at 950 North Shore was carefully designed to preserve the defining characteristics of the building and showcase the architectural history of the former Heinz Services Building. The loft design is split along the building’s bearings to offer residents a choice of styles. The West lofts contain characteristic industrial loft elements, including exposed ductwork and wood and metal beams, brick walls, original terrazzo and sealed concrete floors, high ceilings, and open space. East lofts are designed with more modern finishes for a contemporary feel. Every unit at 950 North Shore is spacious, with large windows and views of Pittsburgh’s cityscape or the open air atrium. The loft interiors have open dining and living areas and fully-appointed kitchens with granite countertops and ample cabinet space.
